At the Present Moment Café

by Lois Marie Harrod

What you get is where you are:
and the coffee sitting cold
on the table will not be coming
hot any time soon, for even
lukewarm takes planning.
Don’t expect a sweet roll
in your sheets tonight.
Let your sour self know the now.
No expectations, no wants,
no excuses, but oddly
lots of oughts,
more than you are not imagining.
So just empty your mind
and stop your bellyaching.
